Volunteers are key to the success of the YMCA. Our staff depends on the talent and the extra hands that make everything we do a little extra special. The children and adults that participate in our programs and services look to our volunteers as models who can provide guidance to them. Your presence says you care about your Hometown YMCA!

Judo (Ages 7 years to adult)  

Judo is a sport that builds character, balance, strength, speed, self-esteem, and confidence.  Our Judo program is taught by 5th Degree Black Belt,Mike Yoshida and 1st Degree Black Belt, Dave Prater.  A starter fee of $20 for YMCA members or $30 for Non-Members must be paid prior to attending a class.  After one month, fees listed below apply.  After the first month of class, a judo gi must be purchased, see the instructor for assistance.  You can join judo any time.

Tuesdays and Thursdays   7:00 to 8:30 PM

Fee:  $5 per month for YMCA members     $15 per month for Non-Members

Karate (Ages 7 years to adult) Please contact the YMCA regarding Summer Karate!

The style of Karate instructed is Isshin-Ryu.  This style is a combination of Shroin-Ryu and Goyu-Ryu, originating in Okinawa.  This class runs continually and students are welcome to join at any time.  Our Karate program is taught by Charles Shoopman, a 5th-Degree Black Belt and retired police officer.  A starter fee of $20 for YMCA members or $30 for Non-Members must be paid prior to attending a class.  After one month, fees listed below apply.  You can join Karate at any time.

Mondays and Wednesdays    6:30 to 7:30 PM

Fee:  $5 per month for YMCA members     $15 per month for Non-Members

Cheer Tumbling (Ages 5 years and up)

This comprehensive class will teach the new skills and fundamentals necessary to be a great cheerleader.  Not only will we work on flexibility, strength, and cheers/chants, we will also work on cartwheels, round-offs, and back handsprings - dependent on individual skill level.  Boys and girls are welcome. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Mondays   4:30 - 5:30 pm

Fee:  $32 for YMCA members    $64 for Non-Members

Cheer Tumbling II (Must have had a least one year of Cheer Tumbling)

This comprehensive class will teach the new skills and fundamentals necessary to be a great cheerleader.  Not only will we work on flexibility, strength, and cheers/chants, we will also work on cartwheels, round-offs, and back handsprings - dependent on individual skill level.  Boys and girls are welcome.

Fee:  $40 for YMCA members    $80 for Non-Members

Creative Movement (Ages 3 1/2  to 6 years)

Children are introduced to the fundamentals of ballet, tap and using dance for self-expression.

Thursday 5:15 - 6:00 pm

Fee:  $22 for YMCA members     $44 for Non-Members

Ballet (Ages 7 years and up)

Children will learn the fundamentals of ballet with a focuson stretching, proper alignment and self-expression.

Thursdays     6:00 - 7:00 pm

Fee:  $32 for YMCA members     $64 for Non-Members

Jazz/Hip Hop and Tap are not being offered during the Summer 2008 session. If you are interested in either class or private dance lessons please contact Amy Dobyns at dance@tecumsehymca.org.

Nursery

The Tecumseh YMCA nursery is open both morning and evening hours to allow everyone the opportunity to come to the YMCA and enjoy our facility! The nursery is a free service to Tecumseh YMCA members and is $4 per child for Non-Members.

Monday - Saturday  Mornings 9:00 - 11:00 am

Monday through Thursday Evenings 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Fee:  Free for YMCA members     $4 per child for Non-Members

 Drop off policy

 Parents, we would like to take this  opportunity to make you aware of  the YMCA's policy on dropping off  children.

 All children under the age of 12 must  be accompanied by an adult while  they are in the facility, unless they  are in a supervised activity. Children not in a supervised activity are only permitted to be in YMCA for 3 hours.
